Swap Meet/ State Fair
The swap meet and state fair were lots of fun but sooooo hot. We picked up some fun souveniers and rode the carnival rides before wearing out and coming home. We rode the bus home and all three kids took a nap.

Today we're heading to Aloha Stadium for the swap meet and the Hawaii State fair.
Today we started the day with real golf, sort of. It was putting green golf at Granddad's. The kids loved it and learned a little from Granddad. Later we took the bus further down Waikiki to explore. We played at one of the beaches with a wall protecting us from the surf, swam at the Hale Koa pool, saw the penguins at the Hawaiian Village and watched the fireworks. We were all wore out by the time we got home!
Matthew is quite the celebrity in Waikiki. Young Japanese tourists stop to ask to take their picture with him. Here he is with one group of young ladies.
We started the day with a Wii Sports tourney. The kids played Wii golf with Granddad and we finally left them playing to go down to the pool. We spent most of the day at the pool, played in the rec room, let the little kids take a nap, and made chocolate fondue treats.
We hit Granddad and JD's pool in the morning and the Hale Koa pool in the afternoon. This is the first year the kids are too big for the baby pool. We spent our entire time at the big pool. It didn't take the kids anytime to get assimilated to the water. They're doing great practicing their swimming and going underwater.

That flight from Dallas to Honululu just seems to get longer and longer. After blowing through most of our snacks and prizes I was discouraged to see we were only halfway to our destination. But we made it without any tears, tantrums or blood! We brought every techno gagder we own and that really helped a lot. Our flight was late getting into Dallas and so we almost missed our connection. We ran to our gate and just made it but we didn't have time to buy lunch at McDonald's like we usually do. That REALLY stunk because that left us the only option - to buy overpriced airline food that kids wouldn't eat anyway. So we spent $32 on two sandwiches, two bags of chips and three snack bags.
Paul and I were talking about our favorite things in/about Hawaii and one of them that we both love is the smell. We both took a deep breath when we got off the airplane and had a big sigh of relief that we finally made it.
It was so great to see Granddad and JD when we landed. They had balloons for the kids and a birthday cake for Matthew at home. After we got unpacked and settled we went swimming.
Matthew had a blast at his Pirate birthday party today. We had it out on the deck and were really lucky we avoided the rain. It was really hot though, about 89. The kids went on a treasure hunt, played ate pirate cupcakes, snacks and watermelon.

I was lucky to be able to accompany the kindergarteners on their field trip to the zoo. The weather was bit cool but they had tons of fun.
